“White Water Rafting” is the second exhibition featuring new works from four artists –Ludmila Hrachovinová, So Yeon Kim, Sara Rossi and Mariam Kvirikashvili– that came together under the umbrella of an imagined residence, Villa Raccolta. The Villa is named after the notion of a place to collect the scattered parts, a place to go back to; it encapsulates both personal conceptualizations and a collective agreement of an ideal home. In the exhibition at CAS Batumi, this fictitious landscape materializes as an image of a raft adrift at sea. Objects borrowed from this reverie are carefully collaged together into an exhibition that captures a remote dream, serene or turbulent.
In the works showcased, the four artists share an urgency to look back at previously discarded works or daily functional or decorative objects: new solutions emerge from encountering anachronistic wishes and desperation; obsolete purposes and deadlines give way to mutations that are as unexpected as intimacy, like a home.
